The Venture Accelerator Program provides hands-on entrepreneurship training, advising, and mentoring for student-run ventures. Select entrepreneurs are coached for nine months on developing a viable idea and better positioning it for a successful launch.
The mission of the Venture Accelerator program is to educate students and to introduce them to the entrepreneurship ecosystem and provide connections to resources, events, and funding opportunities with the ultimate goal of creating revenue-generating, investment-ready ventures. The Venture Accelerator program consists of two stages: the Immersion Lab, which runs from August to December, and the Start-Up Springboard, which runs from January to May.
Immersion Lab is a 16-week intensive track program that engages up to 12 student venture teams in a hands-on training opportunity that is focused on developing a viable business. Venture teams attend weekly workshops, all taught by experts in the field, which push them through the stages of development necessary for successful launch. During the Immersion Lab, participants will work with a mentor and multiple advisors from our Guru Network who guide them through the process of planning and testing their venture. Venture teams are responsible for completing venture development milestones throughout the semester that help drive their venture forward to launch.
Start-Up Springboard is the second stage of the Venture Accelerator program. Those ventures emerging from the Immersion Lab with a proof of concept and a committed entrepreneur will be invited to continue in the Start-Up Springboard. While in the Springboard program, participants will develop a customized plan to launch their venture and will attend hands-on workshops, get staff support to deliver on plan milestones, and continue to access the Guru network of advisors and mentors. They will maintain a level of accountability while working at a more independent level launch their ventures. Stated goals are expected to be met, moving toward the ultimate goal of launching the company or becoming investor-ready.
